The Little Horn

The Little Horn

This article presents a thesis concerning the ten kings and the little horn which rises after them as detailed in Daniel.

The Establishment of the 10 Monarchies of Europe:

Belgium – Established July, 21 1831 – Roman Catholic

Denmark – Established before the 10th century – Lutheran

Liechtenstein – Established January 23, 1979 – Roman Catholic

Luxembourg – Established June 9, 1815 – Roman Catholic

Monaco – Esablished 1297 – Roman Catholic

Netherlands – Established June 5, 1806 – Roman Catholic

Norway – Established 872 – Lutheran

Spain- Established January 23, 1516 – Lutheran

Sweden – Established before the 10th century – Lutheran

United Kingdom – Established 871 – Anglican

Vatican City State – Established February 11, 1929 – Roman Catholic

N.B. Andorra is not a monarchy, but a diarchy, and thus does not have a sovereign.

The remainder are the ten hereditary monarchs, which are detailed in Daniel 7:23.

The Vatican City State, or the Pope, is the Little Horn (Dan. 7:8) which rises after the ten monarchies of the remnant of the Roman Empire.

The Vatican was established at the Lateran Treaty of 11 February 1929.

It is the last monarchy to be established in Europe.

The pope still officially carries the title “King of the Ecclesiastical State”                (in Latin: Rex Status Ecclesiæ).

King Nebuchadnezzar’s Statue

Dan 2:31  Thou, O king, sawest, and behold a great image. This great image, whose brightness was excellent, stood before thee; and the form thereof was terrible.

Dan 2:32  This image’s head was of fine gold, his breast and his arms of silver, his belly and his thighs of brass,

Dan 2:33  His legs of iron, his feet part of iron and part of clay.

Dan 2:34  Thou sawest till that a stone was cut out without hands, which smote the image upon his feet that were of iron and clay, and brake them to pieces.

Dan 2:35  Then was the iron, the clay, the brass, the silver, and the gold, broken to pieces together, and became like the chaff of the summer threshingfloors; and the wind carried them away, that no place was found for them: and the stone that smote the image became a great mountain, and filled the whole earth.

Dan 2:36  This is the dream; and we will tell the interpretation thereof before the king.

Dan 2:37  Thou, O king, art a king of kings: for the God of heaven hath given thee a kingdom, power, and strength, and glory.

Dan 2:38  And wheresoever the children of men dwell, the beasts of the field and the fowls of the heaven hath he given into thine hand, and hath made thee ruler over them all. Thou art this head of gold.

Dan 2:39  And after thee shall arise another kingdom inferior to thee, and another third kingdom of brass, which shall bear rule over all the earth.

Dan 2:40  And the fourth kingdom shall be strong as iron: forasmuch as iron breaketh in pieces and subdueth all things: and as iron that breaketh all these, shall it break in pieces and bruise.

Dan 2:41  And whereas thou sawest the feet and toes, part of potters’ clay, and part of iron, the kingdom shall be divided; but there shall be in it of the strength of the iron, forasmuch as thou sawest the iron mixed with miry clay.

Dan 2:42  And as the toes of the feet were part of iron, and part of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong, and partly broken.

Dan 2:43  And whereas thou sawest iron mixed with miry clay, they shall mingle themselves with the seed of men: but they shall not cleave one to another, even as iron is not mixed with clay.

Dan 2:44  And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever.

Dan 2:45  Forasmuch as thou sawest that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it brake in pieces the iron, the brass, the clay, the silver, and the gold; the great God hath made known to the king what shall come to pass hereafter: and the dream is certain, and the interpretation thereof sure.

Daniel’s Dream of the Four Beasts

Dan 7:1  In the first year of Belshazzar king of Babylon Daniel had a dream and visions of his head upon his bed: then he wrote the dream, and told the sum of the matters.

Dan 7:2  Daniel spake and said, I saw in my vision by night, and, behold, the four winds of the heaven strove upon the great sea.

Dan 7:3  And four great beasts came up from the sea, diverse one from another.

Dan 7:4  The first was like a lion, and had eagle’s wings: I beheld till the wings thereof were plucked, and it was lifted up from the earth, and made stand upon the feet as a man, and a man’s heart was given to it.

Dan 7:5  And behold another beast, a second, like to a bear, and it raised up itself on one side, and it had three ribs in the mouth of it between the teeth of it: and they said thus unto it, Arise, devour much flesh.

Dan 7:6  After this I beheld, and lo another, like a leopard, which had upon the back of it four wings of a fowl; the beast had also four heads; and dominion was given to it.

Dan 7:7  After this I saw in the night visions, and behold a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, and strong exceedingly; and it had great iron teeth: it devoured and brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with the feet of it: and it was diverse from all the beasts that were before it; and it had ten horns.

Dan 7:8  I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things.

Dan 7:19  Then I would know the truth of the fourth beast, which was diverse from all the others, exceeding dreadful, whose teeth were of iron, and his nails of brass; which devoured, brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with his feet;

Dan 7:20  And of the ten horns that were in his head, and of the other which came up, and before whom three fell; even of that horn that had eyes, and a mouth that spake very great things, whose look was more stout than his fellows.

Dan 7:21  I beheld, and the same horn made war with the saints, and prevailed against them;

Dan 7:22  Until the Ancient of days came, and judgment was given to the saints of the most High; and the time came that the saints possessed the kingdom.

Dan 7:23  Thus he said, The fourth beast shall be the fourth kingdom upon earth, which shall be diverse from all kingdoms, and shall devour the whole earth, and shall tread it down, and break it in pieces.

Dan 7:24  And the ten horns out of this kingdom are ten kings that shall arise: and another shall rise after them; and he shall be diverse from the first, and he shall subdue three kings.

Dan 7:25  And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.

Dan 7:26  But the judgment shall sit, and they shall take away his dominion, to consume and to destroy it unto the end.

The Meaning of the Visions

In Daniel 2:31-35 & 36-45, King Nebuchadnezzar has a dream of a statue, having the head of gold, the chest and arms of silver, and the belly of bronze. God told Daniel the meaning: these represented the empires of Babylon, Media-Persia and Greece. The legs of iron represented the Roman Empire, which would smash the earth in pieces with its military might.

The feet and toes come out of this fourth empire; they also are of iron, but with brittle clay mixed with it. It is partly strong and partly weak.

This final condition would last until the Ancient of Days would come, destroy the earthly kingdoms and set up his own kingdom on earth. (Dan. 7:22)

In Daniel 7:1-28, Daniel dreams of four beasts; these parallel the four kingdoms or empires of the statue vision in chapter 2. The vision is interpreted for Daniel by an angel. It gives additional information about the last empire. The strength of the conquering Roman army is given in verses 7 & 19.

Just as the human feet have 10 toes in the statue dream (2:41-42), this beast has 10 horns (7:7-8, 20). These are identified as kings in verse 24. They come “out of” the fourth empire, and are partly iron; that is, they are in some way related to the Roman entity.

The current European Union was originally begun, as the European Economic Community (EEC), with the Treaty of Rome which was signed on the Capitoline Hill in Rome on 25th March 1957 and came into force on 1st January 1958. Its original six member-states eventually grew into the 28 states of today (2017). [See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Treaty_of_Rome  for a useful article on its development.]

The bones of the two human feet have 28 bones in all (see below). Just as the toes of the statue were part iron and part clay, so the European Union has always had some very strong and some very weak nations.

An Aside: Reformed and Catholic interpretation

Many Reformed and Catholic Bible commentators try to claim that Daniel’s prophecies are all past. It is key to note that the “10 kings which will arise” are still extant when the “stone cut out without hands” smites the image on its feet. (Dan. 2:34) The God of heaven sets up a kingdom and the kingdoms of the earth are given to the Messiah and his saints (2:44-45; 7:22, 26). Some claim these ten kings are the Germanic or barbarian tribes of the 5th and 6th centuries: Alemanni, Suevi, Visigoths, Vandals, Bretons, Franks, Burgundians, Angles, Saxons, Jutes, Heruli, Ostrogoths, Lombards, Avars, Slavs, Frisians, Thuringians, Bavarians. You will note that there are more than ten. It is noted that this was the time that Trinitarianism (belief in God as a Trinity) took hold and quashed Arianism (a heresy denying the eternal nature of God the Son). This supposedly was the kingdom which “became a great mountain and filled the whole earth”. (Dan. 2:35)

However, world empire was certainly not swept away at that time. Nor is it true that Iraq (Babylon), Iran (Persia), Greece and Rome were “broken to pieces together, and became like the chaff of the summer threshing floors. The wind carried them away so that no place was found for them.” (Dan. 2:35) Daniel 2:44 is even more specific:

Dan 2:44  And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever.

Have all these other kingdoms been broken in pieces and consumed? No. They are even today at the front of world news: Iraq’s pitiable war, Iran’s nuclear posturing, Greece’s economic woes (not to mention her now universal philosophies, mathematics and architecture), and the European Union’s pretence at unity despite  constant bickering. Until Iraq, Iran, Greece and Rome – and the ten-king European situation – have been swept away, with no place found for them, this prophecy has not yet been fulfilled. It is also hardly credible that Trinitarianism could be called a kingdom, in comparison with the descriptions of the other kingdoms in the dream.

The Fourth Kingdom

The legs of the statue are the longest part; thus the fourth empire (Rome in its various forms) lasted longer than the previous three empires. It was also partitioned into two “legs”, western (at Rome) and eastern (in Constantinople/ Byzantium). The East primarily used Greek, and the West used Latin. The West’s form of “Christianity” was Roman Catholic, the East’s was Orthodoxy. Later in their history, each also had a both a civil and a religious leader (emperor, and pope or patriarch), just as the bones in the legs are one above the knee (femur) and two below (tibia and fibula).

After the First and Second World Wars, Europe’s empires and monarchies were largely swept away (see A Connection Between The European Crowned Heads

and The Nation and Land of Israel). Since 1973, there are 10 hereditary monarchies left in Europe: Belgium, Denmark, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Monaco, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom. (Andorra is a semi-elected diarchy, not a monarchy.) The Vatican City State is another “different from the others” (Daniel 7:24); it is a theocratic absolute elective monarchy. This is the “Little Horn” which arises after the others (7:24).

Considerations on the “Little Horn”

It is a “little” horn.

The Vatican City State is the smallest nation in the world: 0.44 km2

It came up “among” the other horns, and after the other ten.

The Vatican is in the central part of Europe. It did not exist until 11th February 1929, the last European monarchy to arise by nearly a hundred years.

It plucked up three of the first horns by the roots.

On 31st October 1999, the Joint Declaration on the Doctrine of Justification (JDDJ) was published by the Catholic and Lutheran churches. It effectively stated that the Lutheran church, although agreeing to the doctrine of salvation “by grace alone”, no longer stood by the doctrine of salvation “by faith alone” (sola fide) as the Reformers had done. Since this is the root difference between Catholics and Protestants, it would appear to confirm the statement in Daniel 7:8. The three Lutheran monarchies in Europe have been “plucked up by the roots” (Dan. 7:8) or “subdued” (Dan. 7:24) by the Little Horn. It is interesting to note that they are three of the oldest monarchies.

[ JDDJ document: https://www.lutheranworld.org/sites/default/files/Joint%20Declaration%20on%20the%20Doctrine%20of%20Justification.pdf ]

The Little Horn is full of eyes.

This could denote the worldwide nature of the Vatican’s intelligence networks; only seven nations in the world (out of 195 or so) currently have no diplomatic relations with the Vatican. It could denote the fact that every single area of the Vatican is constantly observed by closed-circuit cameras.

It has a mouth speaking great things.

The full title of the “Pope” of Rome is:

His Holiness Francis, Bishop of RomeVicar of Jesus Christ, Successor of the Prince of the ApostlesSupreme Pontiff of the Universal Church, Primate of Italy, Archbishop and Metropolitan of the Roman ProvinceSovereign of the Vatican City State, Servant of the servants of God.

1. His religious style is “Holy Father”. (The word pope comes from papa, father.) The only Scriptural reference to this title is to God the Father, given by Christ Himself. (Jn. 17:11)

2. He styles himself “Supreme Pontiff” or “Pontifex Maximus” (i.e. Great High Priest). This title in Scripture is given only to “Jesus the Son of God”. (Heb. 4:14) The ancient Roman Pontifex was the mediator between men and the gods. Scripture states that there is “one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus”. (1 Tim. 2:5) See also Heb. 8:6; 9:15; 12:24.

3. He styles himself the “Vicar of Jesus Christ” (i.e. his representative or substitute). The only One representing Christ as His Substitute on earth is the Holy Spirit. (Jn. 14:16)

Thus, the “pope” arrogates to himself titles of all three Persons of the Godhead, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Further descriptions

Dan. 7:20 – whose look was more stout than his fellows

Dan. 7:21- the same horn made war with the saints, and prevailed against them

Dan. 7:25 – and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.

“His appearance was greater than that of the others”. Papal splendour greatly exceeds that of royalty.

“The same horn made war with the saints, and prevailed against them.” The papal Inquisition lasted 605 years and displaced, tortured and murdered millions of true Bible-believing Christians.

“He shall wear out the saints of the Most High.” The verb used means to harass constantly. Read Foxe’s Book of Martyrs. [https://ia801900.us.archive.org/21/items/in.ernet.dli.2015.219557/2015.219557.The-Book.pdf ]

“He shall think to change times and laws.” The Feasts of the Lord set out in Scripture have been swept aside by the Catholic church in favour of pagan feasts “Christianized”. The commands laid down by Christ for his disciples to follow (“If you love me, keep my commandments.” John 14:15) were changed to rules and regulations laid down instead by the church. The Sabbath Day of Rest was specifically changed from the seventh day to the first day (Sunday was originally for Sun worship) by Constantine in 321 A.D. In 325 A.D., Pope Sylvester officially named Sunday “the Lord’s Day,” and in 338, Eusebius, the court bishop of Constantine, wrote, “All things whatsoever that it was the duty to do on the Sabbath we (Constantine, Eusebius, and other bishops) have transferred to the Lord’s Day (the first day of the week) as more appropriately belonging to it.” Catholic documents even state that, by worshipping on a Sunday, the Protestants are admitting that the Catholics have the right and authority to have changed it.

No doubt these additional descriptions will be particularly relevant to the time of the final Antichrist as the embodiment of the Little Horn; this is specified by the limiting of his power to “a time, times and half a time”. A time, in Biblical prophecy, means a 360-day year. “Times” here means specifically two times (dual, not plural). The total is 1260 days, or 42 months, or 3½ (prophetic) years. This period of the Beast’s power and persecution of believers is paralleled in Revelation 11:2,3; 12:6,14; 13:5.

Rev 12:6  And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days.

Rev 12:14  And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.

Rev 13:5  And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months.

Paul states clearly that the Day of Christ (His Second Coming in power and glory) will not come until the Antichrist or Man of Sin is revealed:

2Th 2:3  Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

2Th 2:4  Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.

Note how similar his description is to the one given in Daniel and Revelation.

The Beast in the Book of Revelation

In John’s vision of the Beast in the Book of Revelation, which parallels Daniel’s vision, he writes:

Rev 13:4  And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?

Rev 13:5  And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months.

Rev 13:6  And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven

Definition of blasphemy (Merriam-Webster dictionary):

  1. a :  the act of insulting or showing contempt or lack of reverence for God

accused of blasphemy

b :  the act of claiming the attributes of a deity

for a mere man to suggest that he was … divine could only be viewed … as blasphemy — John Bright †1889

  1. 2:  irreverence toward something considered sacred or inviolable

The little horn blasphemes against God and his name.

See comments above.

The little horn blasphemes God’s tabernacle.

Heb 9:21  Moreover he [Moses] sprinkled with blood both the tabernacle, and all the vessels of the ministry.

Heb 9:22  And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.

Heb 9:23  It was therefore necessary that the patterns of things in the heavens should be purified with these; but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these.

Heb 9:24  For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us:

Heb 9:25  Nor yet that he should offer himself often, as the high priest entereth into the holy place every year with blood of others;

Heb 9:26  For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.

Heb 9:27  And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:

Heb 9:28  So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.

The writer to the Hebrews associates the cleansing of the tabernacle in Heaven with the offering of Christ ONCE on the cross, and says He did not offer Himself repeatedly, as the Old Testament priests offered repeated sacrifices.

Roman Catholic teaching on the Mass clearly states that the Mass repeatedly continues the same sacrifice of Christ, but in an unbloody manner, and that it is propitiatory (turns away God’s wrath). Yet Scripture states that the heavenly tabernacle was cleansed (along with believers) by Christ one and for all. Thus, Roman Catholic doctrine is blaspheming the heavenly tabernacle – they say it is still unclean when it is clean.

The little horn blasphemes those who dwell in Heaven.

This could easily refer to believers who have died, but certainly refers to non-Catholic Christians. The Roman church anathematizes (curses) anyone who does not believe its unbiblical doctrines. The Second Vatican Council did not annul these curses, as some like to claim, but restated them.

Every Council of the Church of Rome defines her views of the Gospel of Peace in a series of Anathemas against the Christians who dispute the truth of her doctrines. Thus the Council of Trent (1545-1563) which was assembled to condemn the Reformation, issued 128 canons under anathema. Of these the following are excellent samples:— “If anyone shall say that the good works of a justified person are in such sense the gifts of God that they are not also the good MERITS of that justified person: let him be anathema” (Sess. VI., can. 32).

(ROME’S CURSES AGAINST PROTESTANTS “THE ANATHEMA” Church Association Tract 407 (July, 1910))

Trent’s anathemas, all of which were renewed by Vatican II, The Code of Canon Law, and the current Catechism of the Catholic Church remain today as the official teaching of Roman Catholicism.

‘In 1962, at the opening of Vatican II in Rome, Pope John XXIII affirmed, “I do accept entirely all that has been decided and declared at the Council of Trent.” Vatican II itself “proposes again the decrees of the Council of Trent.” On 12/31/95, honoring the 450th anniversary of the opening of Trent, Pope John Paul II declared, “Its conclusions maintain all their value.”

‘If anyone denies that by…baptism, the guilt of original sin is remitted [or] denies that…[the] justice, sanctification and redemption…of Jesus Christ is applied both to adults and to infants by the sacrament of baptism…let him be anathema…. (Rome’s emphasis)

If anyone says that the sacraments of the New Law [i.e., the seven sacraments of the Roman Catholic Church] are not necessary for salvation…and that without them…men obtain from God through faith alone the grace of justification…let him be anathema….

If anyone says that baptism is…not necessary for salvation, let him be anathema….

If anyone says that after the reception of the grace of justification the guilt is so remitted and the debt of eternal punishment so blotted out…that no debt of temporal punishment remains to be discharged either in this world or in purgatory before the gates of heaven can be opened, let him be anathema….

If anyone says that the sacrifice of the mass…wherein that life-giving victim by which we are reconciled to the Father is daily immolated on the altar by priests…is a mere commemoration of the sacrifice consummated on the cross but not a propitiatory one…offered for the living and the dead, for sins, punishments, satisfactions, and other necessities, let him be anathema.’

The Woman (prostitute) who rides the Beast in Revelation 17-19

This subject has been much written about. The visions detail the Roman Catholic church and the part she plays in the Time of the End. We shall not include a study as part of this document, but hope to add one soon on this site.

DANIEL CHAPTER 2

Nebuchadnezzar’s Dream

Dan 2:1  And in the second year of the reign of Nebuchadnezzar Nebuchadnezzar dreamed dreams, wherewith his spirit was troubled, and his sleep brake from him.

Dan 2:2  Then the king commanded to call the magicians, and the astrologers, and the sorcerers, and the Chaldeans, for to show the king his dreams. So they came and stood before the king.

Dan 2:3  And the king said unto them, I have dreamed a dream, and my spirit was troubled to know the dream.

Dan 2:4  Then spake the Chaldeans to the king in Syriack, O king, live for ever: tell thy servants the dream, and we will show the interpretation.

Dan 2:5  The king answered and said to the Chaldeans, The thing is gone from me: if ye will not make known unto me the dream, with the interpretation thereof, ye shall be cut in pieces, and your houses shall be made a dunghill.

Dan 2:6  But if ye show the dream, and the interpretation thereof, ye shall receive of me gifts and rewards and great honour: therefore show me the dream, and the interpretation thereof.

Dan 2:7  They answered again and said, Let the king tell his servants the dream, and we will show the interpretation of it.

Dan 2:8  The king answered and said, I know of certainty that ye would gain the time, because ye see the thing is gone from me.

Dan 2:9  But if ye will not make known unto me the dream, there is but one decree for you: for ye have prepared lying and corrupt words to speak before me, till the time be changed: therefore tell me the dream, and I shall know that ye can show me the interpretation thereof.

Dan 2:10  The Chaldeans answered before the king, and said, There is not a man upon the earth that can show the king’s matter: therefore there is no king, lord, nor ruler, that asked such things at any magician, or astrologer, or Chaldean.

Dan 2:11  And it is a rare thing that the king requireth, and there is none other that can show it before the king, except the gods, whose dwelling is not with flesh.

Dan 2:12  For this cause the king was angry and very furious, and commanded to destroy all the wise men of Babylon.

Dan 2:13  And the decree went forth that the wise men should be slain; and they sought Daniel and his fellows to be slain.

Dan 2:14  Then Daniel answered with counsel and wisdom to Arioch the captain of the king’s guard, which was gone forth to slay the wise men of Babylon:

Dan 2:15  He answered and said to Arioch the king’s captain, Why is the decree so hasty from the king? Then Arioch made the thing known to Daniel.

Dan 2:16  Then Daniel went in, and desired of the king that he would give him time, and that he would show the king the interpretation.

God Reveals Nebuchadnezzar’s Dream

Dan 2:17  Then Daniel went to his house, and made the thing known to Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, his companions:

Dan 2:18  That they would desire mercies of the God of heaven concerning this secret; that Daniel and his fellows should not perish with the rest of the wise men of Babylon.

Dan 2:19  Then was the secret revealed unto Daniel in a night vision. Then Daniel blessed the God of heaven.

Dan 2:20  Daniel answered and said, Blessed be the name of God for ever and ever: for wisdom and might are his:

Dan 2:21  And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding:

Dan 2:22  He revealeth the deep and secret things: he knoweth what is in the darkness, and the light dwelleth with him.

Dan 2:23  I thank thee, and praise thee, O thou God of my fathers, who hast given me wisdom and might, and hast made known unto me now what we desired of thee: for thou hast now made known unto us the king’s matter.

Dan 2:24  Therefore Daniel went in unto Arioch, whom the king had ordained to destroy the wise men of Babylon: he went and said thus unto him; Destroy not the wise men of Babylon: bring me in before the king, and I will show unto the king the interpretation.

Dan 2:25  Then Arioch brought in Daniel before the king in haste, and said thus unto him, I have found a man of the captives of Judah, that will make known unto the king the interpretation.

Dan 2:26  The king answered and said to Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, Art thou able to make known unto me the dream which I have seen, and the interpretation thereof?

Dan 2:27  Daniel answered in the presence of the king, and said, The secret which the king hath demanded cannot the wise men, the astrologers, the magicians, the soothsayers, show unto the king;

Dan 2:28  But there is a God in heaven that revealeth secrets, and maketh known to the king Nebuchadnezzar what shall be in the latter days. Thy dream, and the visions of thy head upon thy bed, are these;

Dan 2:29  As for thee, O king, thy thoughts came into thy mind upon thy bed, what should come to pass hereafter: and he that revealeth secrets maketh known to thee what shall come to pass.

Dan 2:30  But as for me, this secret is not revealed to me for any wisdom that I have more than any living, but for their sakes that shall make known the interpretation to the king, and that thou mightest know the thoughts of thy heart.

Daniel Interprets the Dream

Daniel Is Promoted

Dan 2:46  Then the king Nebuchadnezzar fell upon his face, and worshipped Daniel, and commanded that they should offer an oblation and sweet odours unto him.

Dan 2:47  The king answered unto Daniel, and said, Of a truth it is, that your God is a God of gods, and a Lord of kings, and a revealer of secrets, seeing thou couldest reveal this secret.

Dan 2:48  Then the king made Daniel a great man, and gave him many great gifts, and made him ruler over the whole province of Babylon, and chief of the governors over all the wise men of Babylon.

Dan 2:49  Then Daniel requested of the king, and he set Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, over the affairs of the province of Babylon: but Daniel sat in the gate of the king.

DANIEL CHAPTER 7

Daniel’s Vision of the Four Beasts

The Ancient of Days Reigns

Dan 7:9  I beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of days did sit, whose garment was white as snow, and the hair of his head like the pure wool: his throne was like the fiery flame, and his wheels as burning fire.

Dan 7:10  A fiery stream issued and came forth from before him: thousand thousands ministered unto him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him: the judgment was set, and the books were opened.

Dan 7:11  I beheld then because of the voice of the great words which the horn spake: I beheld even till the beast was slain, and his body destroyed, and given to the burning flame.

Dan 7:12  As concerning the rest of the beasts, they had their dominion taken away: yet their lives were prolonged for a season and time.

The Son of Man Is Given Dominion

Dan 7:13  I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him.

Dan 7:14  And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.

Daniel’s Vision Interpreted

Dan 7:15  I Daniel was grieved in my spirit in the midst of my body, and the visions of my head troubled me.

Dan 7:16  I came near unto one of them that stood by, and asked him the truth of all this. So he told me, and made me know the interpretation of the things.

Dan 7:17  These great beasts, which are four, are four kings, which shall arise out of the earth.

Dan 7:18  But the saints of the most High shall take the kingdom, and possess the kingdom for ever, even for ever and ever.

Dan 7:19  Then I would know the truth of the fourth beast, which was diverse from all the others, exceeding dreadful, whose teeth were of iron, and his nails of brass; which devoured, brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with his feet;

Dan 7:20  And of the ten horns that were in his head, and of the other which came up, and before whom three fell; even of that horn that had eyes, and a mouth that spake very great things, whose look was more stout than his fellows.

Dan 7:21  I beheld, and the same horn made war with the saints, and prevailed against them;

Dan 7:27  And the kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the kingdom under the whole heaven, shall be given to the people of the saints of the most High, whose kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey him.

Dan 7:28  Hitherto is the end of the matter. As for me Daniel, my cogitations much troubled me, and my countenance changed in me: but I kept the matter in my heart.

John’s Vision of Mystery Babylon & Its Destruction

Revelation 17.1 – 19.3

Rev 17:1  And there came one of the seven angels which had the seven vials, and talked with me, saying unto me, Come hither; I will show unto thee the judgment of the great whore that sitteth upon many waters:

Rev 17:2  With whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication.

Rev 17:3  So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.

Rev 17:4  And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication:

Rev 17:5  And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.

Rev 17:6  And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus: and when I saw her, I wondered with great admiration.

Rev 17:7  And the angel said unto me, Wherefore didst thou marvel? I will tell thee the mystery of the woman, and of the beast that carrieth her, which hath the seven heads and ten horns.

Rev 17:8  The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.

Rev 17:9  And here is the mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth.

Rev 17:10  And there are seven kings: five are fallen, and one is, and the other is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a short space.

Rev 17:11  And the beast that was, and is not, even he is the eighth, and is of the seven, and goeth into perdition.

Rev 17:12  And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast.

Rev 17:13  These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast.

Rev 17:14  These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.

Rev 17:15  And he saith unto me, The waters which thou sawest, where the whore sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues.

Rev 17:16  And the ten horns which thou sawest upon the beast, these shall hate the whore, and shall make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh, and burn her with fire.

Rev 17:17  For God hath put in their hearts to fulfil his will, and to agree, and give their kingdom unto the beast, until the words of God shall be fulfilled.

Rev 17:18  And the woman which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth.

Rev 18:1  And after these things I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory.

Rev 18:2  And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.

Rev 18:3  For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies.

Rev 18:4  And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.

Rev 18:5  For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities.

Rev 18:6  Reward her even as she rewarded you, and double unto her double according to her works: in the cup which she hath filled fill to her double.

Rev 18:7  How much she hath glorified herself, and lived deliciously, so much torment and sorrow give her: for she saith in her heart, I sit a queen, and am no widow, and shall see no sorrow.

Rev 18:8  Therefore shall her plagues come in one day, death, and mourning, and famine; and she shall be utterly burned with fire: for strong is the Lord God who judgeth her.

Rev 18:9  And the kings of the earth, who have committed fornication and lived deliciously with her, shall bewail her, and lament for her, when they shall see the smoke of her burning,

Rev 18:10  Standing afar off for the fear of her torment, saying, Alas, alas, that great city Babylon, that mighty city! for in one hour is thy judgment come.

Rev 18:11  And the merchants of the earth shall weep and mourn over her; for no man buyeth their merchandise any more:

Rev 18:12  The merchandise of gold, and silver, and precious stones, and of pearls, and fine linen, and purple, and silk, and scarlet, and all thyine wood, and all manner vessels of ivory, and all manner vessels of most precious wood, and of brass, and iron, and marble,

Rev 18:13  And cinnamon, and odours, and ointments, and frankincense, and wine, and oil, and fine flour, and wheat, and beasts, and sheep, and horses, and chariots, and slaves, and souls of men.

Rev 18:14  And the fruits that thy soul lusted after are departed from thee, and all things which were dainty and goodly are departed from thee, and thou shalt find them no more at all.

Rev 18:15  The merchants of these things, which were made rich by her, shall stand afar off for the fear of her torment, weeping and wailing,

Rev 18:16  And saying, Alas, alas, that great city, that was clothed in fine linen, and purple, and scarlet, and decked with gold, and precious stones, and pearls!

Rev 18:17  For in one hour so great riches is come to nought. And every shipmaster, and all the company in ships, and sailors, and as many as trade by sea, stood afar off,

Rev 18:18  And cried when they saw the smoke of her burning, saying, What city is like unto this great city!

Rev 18:19  And they cast dust on their heads, and cried, weeping and wailing, saying, Alas, alas, that great city, wherein were made rich all that had ships in the sea by reason of her costliness! for in one hour is she made desolate.

Rev 18:20  Rejoice over her, thou heaven, and ye holy apostles and prophets; for God hath avenged you on her.

Rev 18:21  And a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone, and cast it into the sea, saying, Thus with violence shall that great city Babylon be thrown down, and shall be found no more at all.

Rev 18:22  And the voice of harpers, and musicians, and of pipers, and trumpeters, shall be heard no more at all in thee; and no craftsman, of whatsoever craft he be, shall be found any more in thee; and the sound of a millstone shall be heard no more at all in thee;

Rev 18:23  And the light of a candle shall shine no more at all in thee; and the voice of the bridegroom and of the bride shall be heard no more at all in thee: for thy merchants were the great men of the earth; for by thy sorceries were all nations deceived.

Rev 18:24  And in her was found the blood of prophets, and of saints, and of all that were slain upon the earth.

Rev 19:1  And after these things I heard a great voice of much people in heaven, saying, Alleluia; Salvation, and glory, and honour, and power, unto the Lord our God:

Rev 19:2  For true and righteous are his judgments: for he hath judged the great whore, which did corrupt the earth with her fornication, and hath avenged the blood of his servants at her hand.

Rev 19:3  And again they said, Alleluia. And her smoke rose up for ever and ever.

The European Union to date (March 2017) has 28 member states:

The nations of the EU are partly strong and partly broken (e.g. Germany – iron; Romania – brittle clay).

They mingle together (EU government & laws, immigration, multi-culturalism and multi-nationalism), but do not cleave to one another (i.e. do not assimilate: live in enclaves, insist on own laws [e.g. sharia], do not trust each other).

It is in the days of these kings that God will set up His Kingdom on earth – Messianic rule from Jerusalem.

Many critics of the Bible say that Daniel’s prophecies of his own times were too good to be true, and that therefore they must have been written after the events described. Much of this book’s research bibliography is now available free on the internet.

“There are few today who are aware of the sheer historical excellence of the Book of Daniel. Archaeological and documentary evidences combine in the most remarkable way to demonstrate – in defiance of all the critics – its historical accuracy and authenticity. That evidence is presented in this book, and is fully documented. Why it is not more widely known is down to the systematic suppression of evidence that has been applied over the last century and a half by academe to all the books of the Bible, but to Daniel especially. It’s not that scholars have been unaware of the evidence. Quite the contrary. But they have simply refused to allow it to reach the public. Here that evidence is laid bare, from the Babylonian records in which the names of Daniel and his friends appear – along with their respective careers during the Captivity – to the remnants of bricks and mortar which have been brought to the light of day by the archaeologist’s trowel. This book should revolutionise everyone’s thinking about the Book of Daniel – Bible reader and scholar alike.” (quoted from the book’s back cover)
