The Prophecy: God will make a New Covenant with Israel which will provide forgiveness of sins

“‘Behold, the days come,’ says the LORD, ‘that I will make a New Covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah: not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which covenant of mine they broke, although I was a husband to them,’ says the LORD. ‘But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days,’ says the LORD: ‘I will put my law in their inward parts, and I will write it in their heart. I will be their God, and they shall be my people. They will no longer each teach his neighbor, and every man teach his brother, saying, “Know the LORD.” For they will all know me, from their least to their greatest,’ says the LORD. ‘For I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.'” Jeremiah 31:31-34

God promised to make a New Covenant with us, through which he will forgive our sins and write his law on our hearts.

The Fulfillment of the Prophecy: God made a New Covenant through the atoning death of Jesus

Jesus taught his disciples that he would die in order to make a New Covenant. During the Passover meal he took a glass of wine and said: “For this is my blood of the New Covenant, which is shed for many for the forgiveness of sins.” Matthew 26:28

God revealed his love for us through Jesus’ death: “In this was manifested the love of God towards us, that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, so that we might live because of him. This is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiatory sacrifice for our sins.” 1 John 4:9-10
